Controversy that Surrounds Him

Issues

Despite his popularity and how much the world loves him, there are still problems that come about when his name is mentioned.

His Song Bad Religion

Bad Religion is a song from his album channel ORANGE. It talks about how worshipping an unrequited love is unhealthy, like an obsession to a deity that you get absolutely no signals back from (hence the title Bad Religion. But this song gained a widespread of controversy due to certain lyrics that he sings.

"He said, "Allahu akbar"
I told him, "Don't curse me"
"Bo Bo, you need prayer"
I guess it couldn't hurt me"
- Bad Religion

Many people thought he was mocking religion within these lines, causing a lot of people to give him backlash.

But I believe this piece of writing contains informatiom as to why he is not:

His Most Recent Coachella Performance

The words "Where is Frank Ocean?" have been more common amongst fans due to how much he avoids the press and media. It was no wonder that excitement arose once he was shown to be a headliner for Coachella. But this excitement didn't "live up to the hype" as many people said. Many complaints were surrounded by the fact that it seemed as he didn't want to put effort into making it a memorable performance. A detailed explanation on the rise and downfall of this anticipated Coachella performance:

While the disappointment is reasonable, there was a reason for the slow performance. His brother, Ryan Breaux, had died 3 years prior in a car crash, and Ocean was presumably still mourning his death. Also, there were many issues on set. There was supposedly supposed to be an ice rink, but there were issues with that too. So it wasn't entirely his fault the performance went wrong.
